Perquimans County Emergency Services has a Full-Time ALS Position in its Emergency Medical Services Division. We also have immediate openings for Part-Time AEMTs, and Paramedics.

We pride ourselves on community outreach by developing solid partnerships with area agencies. We invest in the community through our Post Overdose Response Team, expansion of our Mobile Integrated Health program, and Water Rescue Team, but we invest in our people too. Since becoming a Paramedic level system in 2018, we have upgraded equipment to reduce injury and increase provider safety. We support provider growth by offering multiple training opportunities each month and participating in various pilot programs and trials. Part-time staff submit availability for 12 and/or 24-hour shifts. Perquimans County is now offering an Educational Stipend of $800 for AEMT to Paramedic and a $1,000 Stipend for the AEMT to Paramedic Degree Program. We hope you will consider growing with us!

Water Technician I: (Grade 58 - Salary Range: $32,168 - $44,182)

An employee in this class performs operational, construction and maintenance duties designed to operate water production and distribution systems. Work includes monitoring daily operations of systems; starting and stopping pumps and plants; operation of heavy equipment; maintenance and repair of water lines; maintenance and repair of pumps; well operation and maintenance; installation of new lines, meters and hydrants; meter reading; and related activities. Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and hearing. Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally; and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Graduation from high school and some experience in the operation and maintenance of a well water production and/or distribution system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must possess or be able to obtain a grade C distribution system certification within twelve months; additional certifications may be required. Valid NC driver’s license required, CDL preferred.

Income Maintenance Caseworker II: (Grade 63 - Salary Range: $36,354 - $55,057)

Employees in this class are responsible for the total process of determining/redetermining applicant/client eligibility in a County Department of Social Services. Work at this level includes such tasks as the interviewing of clients to obtain required information, completing initial applications, verifying the information obtained, determining eligibility or completing scheduled program reviews. Employees must explain program(s) requirements and options and advise or refer clients to other program services as appropriate. Employees usually report to an Income Maintenance Supervisor. One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. To qualify as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II, an applicant must have one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker I. If the individual is not qualified as an Income Maintenance Caseworker II, the position occupied will be an Income Maintenance Caseworker I with a starting salary of $34,955 per year. At the end of one year, the Income Maintenance Caseworker I will be promoted to an Income Maintenance Caseworker II.

Telecommunicator I: (Grade 64 - Salary Range: $37,990 - $57,533)

Under general supervision of a Telecommunicator III, performs specialized, skilled radio and communications work in the 911 Communications Center. An employee in this class is responsible for operating telephone, two-way radio, and other communications equipment in answering requests for fire, law enforcement, EMS, or related assistance. Work requires judgment and discretion in handling all routine and emergency situations, including the ability to remain calm and alerts throughout a shift. Employee must be able to speak clearly and distinctly. Employee works on rotating shifts and is expected to handle all assignments in an independent manner. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation, discussions, and review of records maintained. Telecommunicators of any level are encouraged to apply.

Athletic Program Supervisor: (Grade 64 - Salary Range: $37,990 - $57,533)

Helps plan, develop, coordinate and supervise recreational activities within the comprehensive recreation program for all ages and interest groups. Provide assistance, supervision and training for all programs associated
with the recreation department. Maintains baseball/softball fields, may do maintenance in the gym. Maintain all recreation fields and helps with budgeting and ordering supplies related to field maintenance. Work is performed under general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director and is evaluated by observation, through consultations and by review of results achieved. Requirements for this position include graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in sports administration or a related field and considerable experience supervising organized athletic activities; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid. Must be in possession of a valid N.C. Driver’s License.
